The art of genuine perception.

The essence of a good tour is amazement.

As a guide, the museums of Amsterdam serve as my guidebook, as well as the city itself. The tours I offer have themes that match the content of these museums. A tour could be about the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century, the VOC (United East India Trade), or the architecture that Amsterdam has to offer starting in the medieval period. On the left, you will find a list of possible themes. Book a tour here.

While studying History of Art in Amsterdam I already participated in the world of museums and education. The Tropenmuseum made me aware of the wonderful non-western arts, and guiding there provided me with the opportunity to teach and learn about this broad field. The Rijksmuseum gave me the opportunity to indulge in the world of the Dutch Masters, which made it possible to connect both the western and the non-western arts, cultures and histories. The sometimes dusty books and apparent inaccessible works of art will truly come to life during a tour or lecture, and force me to observe the world in a different way, every day.

In London I specialized in the arts of the Middle East, in particular when it concerns the Islam and Arabic. In the Netherlands there is an absence of objects from these regions, with now and then a small exhibition or course at a University. I am driven to change this lack of understanding, with giving lectures or assisting in future exhibitions. A recurring course I am teaching a Livius. In consultation I am willing to prepare any kind of lecture on the Middle East or islamic art.
